Media Support Coordinator - Central and Eastern Europe

Asya has a strong media and journalistic background. At Thomson, she has coordinated projects and programs across CEE since 2022.

This builds on her previous journalistic experience in Bulgaria and work on international projects for more than 10 years until 2015. Asya obtained her PhD in political science and public policy from Central European University in 2021. She is currently affiliated with the Institute of International Relations in Prague, where she works on projects related to digital sovereignty, disinformation and radicalization through foreign interference, and European enlargement.

Her primary focus is on the Western Balkans and CEE more broadly. She stays connected to issues in Bulgaria by working as a visiting fellow with the German Marshall Fund of the United States, writing op-eds and hosting events about contemporary politics. Previously, she was a fellow with Visegrád Insight (2020) and LSE Ideas (2018) and conducted a research visit at the University of Oxford. She writes academic and policy publications and has cooperated with various think tanks and international organisations, including the OSCE and the Radicalization Awareness Network (RAN).
