Simon Hustings

Simon specialises in video production, post production, training and e-learning. He has been working with the foundation since 2008. His recent work with the foundation, as trainer with the OPEN Media Hub (OMH) project, has taken him across the EU Neighbourhood where he has developed and run production-focused workshops for media professionals in Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia.

He is also senior producer for the OMH platform, providing feedback and post production advice to all content creators, helping to ensure technical standards are met for productions from across the Neighbourhood.

Prior to the OPEN Media Hub, Simon worked on the foundation’s Regional Voices project in Ukraine. Working alongside other foundation trainers, his focus was on-location, practical-based training for regional media professionals. Over the three years of the project, these workshops ranged from five days up to seven weeks, based in various cities across the country.

He also produced and built a number of e-learning courses for the Regional Voices project, as well as OMH. 

Simon has 18 years' industry experience, starting as a camera operator for breaking news in the UK and MENA region. Since then, his work has included news, documentaries, corporate communications, animation and photography for the EU, UN, UNDP, Council of Europe, and various networks, NGOs and corporate clients. 

He is currently based in the UK where he runs a UK and Estonian based production company.
