Senior media training and exchange expert
Petko was the senior media training and exchange expert for the multi-million euro project OPEN Media Hub where he designed and oversaw the implementation of management training, consulting and content production for print and online media in the 17 of the countries bordering the European Union.
He continues to work on the development of a vibrant community of media professionals across the neighbouring states and in the EU member states sharing high professional standards and a passion for better understanding issues of local, regional and global interest.
Petko is a seasoned media professional with background in broadcast journalism and media management and 18 years of experience in media development in South-eastern and Central Europe, the former Soviet Union, Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa
With an educational background in business management his professional career has evolved from broadcast reporter, news editor and presenter to media manager and international media management consultant. He has worked in EU member states and in its neighbourhood for broadcasters such as Radio Free Europe/ Radio Liberty, MTG, bTV, BNT and others and for many of the major media development agencies.
Petko has a long history of civic involvement promoting freedom of expression and access to information. He is the director of the ProMedia Foundation developing high quality journalism in the country and the region. He has taught Media and Communications as a visiting lecturer at the European Humanities University in Vilnius.
Besides Bulgarian he is fluent in English, Russian and in Czech.
