Mark has delivered a wide range of training programmes during his time working for the Thomson Foundation with extensive experience in Africa and Eastern European countries. His career in journalism spans 30 years working for leading international print and broadcasting organisations.
For the foundation he has worked in Ghana and Kenya on Africa Means Business, a highly successful programme backed by the Gates Foundation to encourage co-operation between economists and journalists. Most recently, he has worked extensively on an EU sponsored series of training in Ukraine to improve media coverage on the sensitive issue of Internally Displaced People.
Mark's early career in journalism was with the Financial Times working predominantly in Africa. He then joined Independent Television News (ITN) – one of the leading television news providers in the UK where he was variously Political correspondent, Business and Economics Editor and bureau chief in Russia and then Ireland. He has also worked around the world with companies, governments and civil society organisations.
He is a native English speaker and fluent in French.
