Strengthening media ethics

Thomson Foundation consultants advised Thailand’s National Press Council on reform and introducing a new code of practice. The aim was to help secure greater freedom of expression in the country in the face of domestic and international pressures to raise ethical standards, which – if not addressed voluntarily – might be used as a pretext to bring the independent press within statutory controls applied to broadcasting and online media.
