Open Call: Resilience Incubator for Independent Media in Brazil and Colombia

Independent media outlets in Brazil and Colombia are invited to apply for a new programme aimed at strengthening the long-term resilience of journalism in the face of economic and technological pressures.

Thomson Media’s Resilience Incubator is a three-month support programme offering intensive mentoring, strategic guidance and hands-on tools to help media outlets grow their audiences, diversify revenue and build sustainable business models. The Incubator is part of a wider effort to support independent media working in challenging environments, with a particular focus on engaging disillusioned or disconnected audiences and reconnecting with diaspora communities.

At the core of the programme is support for media managers to make data-driven decisions. Participants will gain access to audience analytics dashboards, receive tailored mentoring on editorial workflows and business planning, and explore ethical uses of automation and AI to improve efficiency and innovation. They will also learn to navigate digital security challenges and plan for crisis and post-crisis scenarios.

The programme places strong emphasis on innovation. Participants who demonstrate strategic potential and high engagement during the Incubator will be considered for a follow-up phase — the Strategic Adaptability Support programme — and will be eligible to apply for an Innovation Grant of up to €20,000.

Who can apply

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a registered media outlet in Brazil or Colombia for at least three years;
