Head of Development: New role for Thomson

As 2023 draws to a close, a new chapter begins for Thomson with the appointment of a new member of the team.

Anton Artemyev joins us in January in a new role as Head of Development. Based in Berlin, Anton will be overseeing our partnership relationships in Germany and within our wider European donor and media landscapes.

He joins us from the Open Society Foundations, OSF, where he headed up the Eastern Europe and Central Asia work as Division Director, leading a team across a wide range of initiatives at critical moments, including coordinating OSF’s response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

2024 is a critical year...

Anton Artemyev
Tidal wave of disinformation

Anton, who began his career with OSF in Kazakhstan, knows first-hand what it means to keep an open media alive, and what the challenges will be in the coming year.

“I’m delighted to be joining Thomson at this hugely challenging time for media freedoms worldwide. 2024 is a critical year in which we’ll see a raft of elections, a tidal wave of disinformation and many conflict points further interlinked,” he says. “Our job is to support those who are trying to shine a light on what is actually going on, to the widest possible audiences, in the clearest way by creating the widest possible revenue streams for ethical media worldwide. I can’t wait to help Thomson extend its coalition of supporters and beneficiaries.”

New perspectives

“Anton brings years of experience in media development, alongside a critical knowledge of how philanthropy can shape resilient media and cso ecosystems in the most difficult circumstance,” says David Quin, Managing Director of Thomson Media in Berlin. “He’ll be a great asset and give new perspectives on what works, and what doesn’t, for the future.”
